A city is exalted by the righteous
and destroyed by the wicked.
So is a family.
Righteousness Delivers Prosperity
10 When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices;
when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.
The righteous bring prosperity to society.
The wicked oppress society
and their deaths are celebrated.
Escaping The Slander Of The Godless
9 With their mouths the godless destroy their neighbors,
but through knowledge the righteous escape.
Knowledge allows the righteous
to escape the slander of the godless.
Trouble Pursues The Wicked
8 The righteous person is rescued from trouble,
and it falls on the wicked instead.
