Visitation to Seniors with Transportation Issues
Eligibility
- Seniors must be either:
- Members or regular attendees of the ARC, or
- Close family members of ARC participants.
- Exclusions:
- Seniors residing in care centers.
- No medical services provided.
- No transportation provided directly by the program.
Primary Objectives
- Address the spiritual, social, physical, and emotional needs of seniors.
- Improve seniors’ connection to the ARC community.
- Enhance seniors’ everyday quality of life.
- Introduce additional services as needed and as the program grows.
Initial Services Offered
- Visitation
- Monthly or semi-monthly visits by designated visitors.
- Monthly Events
- Church or holiday-themed events via in-person or virtual settings.
- Online & Digital Access
- ARC YouTube Services
- ARC Website
- Communication via phone, text, email, or Zoom.
Secondary Services
(With training from Visitors or Supervisors as needed)
- Meals (e.g., Uber Eats)
- Shopping (e.g., Amazon or specific stores)
- Transportation (via Uber)
Program Structure
Phase 1: Initial Launch
- Admin (yourself):
- Personally visit 2 seniors monthly and 2–4 semi-monthly.
- Handle all scheduling and coordination.
- Assign seniors to visitors and supervisors.
- Visitors:
- Focus solely on visitation—monthly or semi-monthly.
- Supervisors:
- Assigned a group of seniors.
- Support and oversee visitors.
- Coordinate with Admin for escalated needs or issues.
Phase 2: Expansion
- Recruit:
- 1 Volunteer Supervisor
- A small team of Visitor Volunteers
- Begin identifying seniors for participation.
- Initial contact via in-person visitor, phone call, or zoom.
- Note: Initially bypass secretary to retain program control and direction.
Future Development
- Clone the model for other communities/languages:
- Japanese, Spanish, etc.
- Expand eligibility to include shut-ins or temporarily homebound individuals.
