Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler;
whoever is led astray by them is not wise.

Wine makes you a whiner.
Beer makes you beerigerent.
Ok, it’s belligerent, but
“Beer makes you a boxer” is a poor second choice.

The Blameless Poor vs The Perverse Fool
Proverbs 19:1

Better the poor whose walk is blameless
than a fool whose lips are perverse.

It is better to be poor and pure
than to be foolish and perverse.

3. wayward or cantankerous.
4. persistent or obstinate in what is wrong.

An Unfriendly Person
Proverbs 18:1

An unfriendly person pursues selfish ends
and against all sound judgment starts quarrels.

There are 2 things wrong with an unfriendly person:
He is selfish.
He is quarrelsome.
Sounds like somebody could use a hug.

Can we all get along?
Proverbs 17:1

Better a dry crust with peace and quiet
than a house full of feasting, with strife.

Not a rhetorical question, but an earnest plea, from a man acquainted with strife.
Strife is a violent reaction to stress that destroys our relationships.
How many of us have risked everything to escape a house of strife?

Proverbs 16:1-2

To humans belong the plans of the heart,
but from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue.

All a person’s ways seem pure to them,
but motives are weighed by the Lord.

If the Word of God determines my motivation,
And my motivation determines my behavior,
Then the Word of God determines my behavior.
