The Sagacious Servant Rules Over The Scandalous Son 17:2

The Sagacious Servant Rules Over The Scandalous Son
Proverbs 17:2

A prudent servant will rule over a disgraceful son
and will share the inheritance as one of the family.

PCdc Commentary

Disgraceful progeny are an embarrassment and of little value to their families.
Trustworthy servants easily rule in their stead and procure their inheritance.
The Lord has blessed my wife and me with two sagacious sons.

Can we all get along? 17:1

Can we all get along?
Proverbs 17:1

Better a dry crust with peace and quiet
than a house full of feasting, with strife.

PCdc Commentary

“Can we all get along? Can we get along?” Rodney King – 1991

Not a rhetorical question, but an earnest plea, from a man acquainted with strife.
Strife is a violent reaction to stress that destroys our relationships.
How many of us have risked everything to escape a house of strife?

Slandering The Poor 17:5

Slandering The Poor
Proverbs 17:5

Whoever mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker;
whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished.

PCdc Commentary

Poverty is often blamed for ignorance and crime.
Ignorance and crime can bring poverty.
But claiming that poverty brings ignorance and crime is a slander to the poor.
Most of the poor people in the world are neither ignorant nor criminal.
Stop slandering the poor and maligning their Maker.
