Best Friends Of The Rich And Poor – Proverbs 19:4

Welcome To Proverbs Club
Best Friends Of The Rich And Poor
Proverbs 19:4 (NIV)

4) Wealth attracts many friends,
but even the closest friend of the poor person deserts them.

Proverbs Club Commentary

The rich acquire many friends, most not very close.
The poor are too often deserted by friends, even their closest.

Guilty, as charged, but too late to compensate.
It is not too late to repent.

Jesus Is Our Refuge And Sanctuary
Proverbs 18:10 (NIV)

10) The name of the Lord is a fortified tower;
the righteous run to it and are safe.

Proverbs Club Commentary

The Christian rests in peace and safety in Jesus.
Even DEATH is a blessing to the Christian.

For to me to live is Christ,
and to die is gain.

Silver, Gold, And Hearts – Proverbs 17:3

Welcome To Proverbs Club
Silver, Gold, And Hearts
Proverbs 17:3 (NIV)

3) The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold,
but the Lord tests the heart.

Proverbs Club Commentary

The scriptural meaning of your “heart” is largely your “spirit”.
Jesus consistently evaluates your spirit, and purifies it as needed.
He works, through the Holy Spirit, to safeguard your Narrow Path.

On Casting Lots
Proverbs 16:33 (NIV)

33) The lot is cast into the lap,
but its every decision is from the Lord.

Proverbs Club Commentary

The Old Testament records several accounts
of casting lots and other ways to get an answer from God.

At least for Israel of that day,
the answer was from God.

Fear The Lord And Be Humble – Proverbs 15:33

Welcome To Proverbs Club
Fear The Lord And Be Humble
Proverbs 15:33 (NIV)

33) Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the Lord,
and humility comes before honor.

Proverbs Club Commentary

Every Christian fears The Lord for He is God.
Christians must be humble about their Narrow Path.

For example,
they cannot expect the non-Christian
to follow scriptural values.
